Yesterday, I posted my book cover with a notorious symbol on it that has wrongly been called a “black sun” for many decades. This symbol is infamous because it’s from the floor of the North Tower of Wewelsburg, the castle that Himmler was turning into a spiritual headquarters for the SS. Though partly inspired by Merovingian-era sun wheels (Zierscheibe, “ornamental disk”), it has such striking differences from them that no exact model exists. Though what’s in Wewelsburg is an authoritative source for its fans, most of those mimicking it can’t be arsed to get it right. Internet examples vary widely. But accept no substitutions: my essay on the topic is about the genuine article in the castle (and not the cheap internet knockoffs), because that’s the key to the mystery.
“Apocalypse” has a primary definition these days of “complete final destruction,” but with Greek etymological roots meaning “uncovering, revealing.” Both meanings are in play here, for I have come not to praise the so-called “Black Sun” identity, but to bury it! Yes, many will still call it a “black sun” anyway, but that’s not stopping me from throwing down the gauntlet on this.
What should it be called instead? Quite simply, what it really is. Yes, I propose a solution to the mystery of what Himmler intended it to be, and why he put it on the floor in Wewelsburg. It’s a more reasonable solution than most can imagine. But nobody found all the keys to it before. And that’s what’s behind all that redacted stuff in my book and essay titles. Not everyone will agree with my solution, though it is the right one. 😉 But whether you agree or not, this is a solution worth taking seriously, and in 80 years, there has never been one of those before!
Spoiler 1: It is 100% *not* a Norse mythology symbol, absolute final and full stop.
Spoiler 2: Invoking it is spiritually dangerous for those who abuse what it is.
What do you think about the possibility that the most notorious mystery of Nazi occultism finally has a solution? And do you have any guesses as to what it is? Or just favorite crank theories? Here’s some mini memes to go with it.
